The characters in my Samantha Davies series and I live in upstate New York, not far from Lake Champlain. Today I traveled to Port Henry to visit the Champ Festival. In the late 1600s Samuel de Champlain, while sailing up the lake, reported seeing a sea monster that has come to be known as Champ. Since then many other people say they have spotted him, too. They couldn't all be wrong, could they? Have you ever seen a sea monster?
My husband and I saw Champ just beyond our Burlington, VT breakwater in late March several years ago. It was a chilly day but Lake Champlain was ice-free. Of course we were mesmerized and didn't grab our cell phones to record it!
